perhaps using another term to get more specific about what is better in slimness would ring truer and less offensive to the chubbs in your midst! e.g., 'slim is healthier than fat'....
you could do the same with soft/hard, too. no one wants a soft flexible knife, that would be lame. so be clearer in what thing soft is better than hard....e.g. in a pillow.
